LATEST MOVIE REVIEW: VENOM: THE LAST DANCE
VENOM: THE LAST DANCE
Venom: The Last Dance is a 2024 movie that continues the adventure of Eddie Brock and his anti-hero symbiotic, Venom. Venom: The Last Dance picks up after the events of Let There Be Carnage, with Eddie Brock and Venom still navigating their strange relationship. This time, they face an existential crisis, as Venom begins to question his loyalty to Eddie and his place in the universe. The plot is framed around the duo's struggle against a new threat: an interdimensional symbiote named Knull (played by a mysterious actor who we don't know yet), who threatens not only Earth but the fabric of the multiverse itself.
I'm about to give away spoilers, so beware! If you haven't watched the movie yet, please skip this blog But if you don't mind spoilers, feel free to keep reading!
So, Venom: The Last Dance... i don't even know where to start. This movie feel like it was made with zero actual plan. First off, the plot is a disaster. They introduce a new villain, Knull, who's supposed to be a big threat in that multiverse but honestly, i couldn't care less about him. He's just there because the script needed someone for Venom to fight.
The tone is also an issue. One minute, Eddie's having a deep emotional crisis about his identity and relationship with Venom, and the next thing i know, they are cracking jokes and randomly throwing people around in CGI fight scenes. The changed between serious and silly feels forced. The humor, which was fun before, now is just kind of tiring. Venom and Eddie's constant bickering is getting old and honestly it's annoying now.
Oh...the pace of the movie itself is a big problem. The first half drags, they are just trying to fill time. Nothing really happend. There's a bunch of random scenes, awkward pauses and a lot of "wait, why is this happening?' moments. Then, when it finally gets to the action,it's all CGI chaos. It is fast and poorly put together, making it hard to follow. I guess if you like a bunch of stuff exploding in your face without much context, you might enjoy that.
Tom Hardy does his best as Eddie Brock but even his charm cannot fix the weak writing. The movie tries to be bigger and more emotional than others, but it doesn't succeed. Everything just felt so forced.
All in all, I gave it a 6/10. I still enjoy some of the fun but overall, it is a letdown that doesn't offer anything new and quite disappointing i might say since i was looking forward to watch the movie since the trailer came out.
